The Australian Stock Horse Society was capable of attracting Vice Regal representation to Scone. Bill Haydon did the honours in 1992. I recall Quentin Bryce in 2010

The Aberdeen Jockey Club ‘folded’ in January 1971 following severe flooding of the Hunter River across the race track on Jefferson Park. During my term as President of the Scone Race Club (1978 – 1984) we revived the ‘Aberdeen Jockey Club’ as a sub-committee of the Scone Race Club. It was a great success; largely thanks to the commitment of SRC Vice-President and Aberdeen Local (”Kelvinside”) Hilton Cope.

Frank Wilson was an expatriate Kiwi and a ‘colourful racing identity’!
